Golden Slumbers
Golden Slumbers
Golden slumbers kiss your eyes,
Smiles await you when you rise.
Sleep, pretty baby, do not cry,
And I will sing a lullaby.
Care you know not, therefore sleep
While over you a watch I’ll keep.
Sleep, pretty darling, do not cry,
And I will sing a lullaby.

Origin – Golden Slumbers
The lyrics of “Golden Slumbers” were taken from the lullaby “Cradle Song” written by the Elizabethan dramatist, Thomas Dekker, for the comedyPatient Grissel in 1603. Several lines of the lullaby were adapted by Paul McCartney and used in his song “Golden Slumbers,” which appeared on The Beatles’ Abbey Road album in 1969.
