Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream. |
Origin
Reputedly American in origin, “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” was originally sung to a different tune than the one now popularly known, and first published in 1852. The version of the rhyme and music commonly sung today was attributed (as either the composer or adapter) to the American professor, Eliphalet Oram Lyte, in The Franklin Square Song Collection (1881). |
