Origin – Bingo was His Name
While the earliest reference to a song titled “BINGO” is attributed to British actor, William Swords, in 1780, a version without a title, but resembling the song we know today, appeared in the songbook The Humming Bird in 1785. The song seems to have made its way to the United States sometime around 1842.
