Origin – A Frog Went A Courtin

“A Frog Went A Courtin’” was first published in Scotland in 1548 as a folksong, and there is some speculation that it refers to the courtship of England’s Queen Elizabeth I and Francois, Duke of Anjou. In the United States, the song appeared in the Tom and Jerry cartoon “Pecos Pest” in 1955, and has been recorded by musical luminaries such as Burl Ives, Elvis Presley, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen among many others.
