A-Tisket A-Tasket

A-Tisket A-Tasket

A-tisket a-tasket
A green and yellow basket.
I wrote a letter to my love
And on the way I dropped it.
I dropped it,
I dropped it,
And on the way I dropped it.
A little boy he picked it up and put it in his pocket.

“A-Tisket A-Tasket” first appeared in the late 19th century in the United States. Its original author is unknown, but a version of the rhyme adapted by American jazz singer, Ella Fitzgerald, and bandleader, Alexander Feldman, in 1938, would help make Ms. Fitzgerald famous.
